Christmas in Cuba and the Caribbean Cruise
Aegean Odyssey will Spend an overnight in Barbados before cruising past St Lucia’s famous pitons and then arriving in Rodney Bay. Next, it’s on to Antigua, St Barts and Nevis, before Aegean Odyssey spends 2 days sailing the Caribbean Sea. December 23 will be spent in Port Antonio, Jamaica and Christmas Eve in Santiago De Cuba, Cuba. Christmas Day will be celebrated at sea and in style before you reach your next port of call in Cuba, Casilda. A full-day call to Cienfuegoes follows and after that, a day at sea. Finally, Aegean Odyssey will arrive in Havana, where she will remain overnight before guests disembark on December 30.
BARBADOS – ST LUCIA – ST BARTS
Along with pristine beaches and lush gardens, one of the highlights of Barbados is its UNESCO World Heritage-listed capital, Bridgetown, where your ship will be moored. A tour of this charming island will include Gun Hill Signal Station, a nineteenth century military outpost that provides remarkable views of the entire island, the classic Gothic St John’s Church and Codrington College – the oldest seminary in the Western Hemisphere. St Lucia’s Rodney Bay is named after the eighteenth-century British naval officer, Admiral Rodney who, among many other adventures, was the victor in Caribbean battles against the French and Dutch. From here you will head for the island’s historic capital Castries where highlights include the impressive Cathedral. The day also includes Pigeon Island, a 44-acre island reserve with paths winding around the remains of barracks, batteries and garrisons. With its French style, exclusive hotels and luxurious shops, St Barts is without doubt the most glamorous of Caribbean islands. Spend the day exploring this tropical playground of billionaires and film stars.
NELSON’S ANTIGUA & NEVIS
Aegean Odyssey sails into Antigua’s Falmouth Harbour, a large protected, horseshoe-shaped bay. From here you travel to nearby English Harbour where the British Royal Navy established its base of operations for the area during the eighteenth century. Stop at the ruins of Shirley Heights for breathtaking views and then to Nelson’s Dockyard where you will have a guided tour of the only working
Georgian dockyard in the world. Nevis is a charming and beautiful island nicknamed the Queen of the Caribbean. Your tour includes two small museums – Hamilton House, birthplace of Alexander Hamilton, one of the Founding Fathers of the USA, and the Museum of Nevis History, which houses the largest collection of Nelson’s memorabilia in the Western Hemisphere. You’ll also visit the impressive Botanical Gardens.
JAMAICA & FASCINATING CUBA
After a relaxing day at sea, we arrive at Port Antonio one of the most beautiful parts of Jamaica. From here, travel to the quaint town of Titchfield and then on to the beautiful Reich Falls that tumble through
the stunning rainforest. Santiago de Cuba, the island’s second largest city, is your first Cuban port of call and the highlight of this visit is the UNESCO-listed fortress Castillo del Morro that sits atop a 200ft-high promontory at the entrance of Santiago harbour. Then, from the port of Casilda, visit the charming colonial Cuban town of Trinidad with its historic sugar mansions. Along the island’s south coast is Cienfuegos, famous for its cathedral and beautiful botanical gardens. Your journey ends with a stay in Cuba’s vibrant and fascinating capital of Havana.
